San Sebastian

San Sebastián is a city of the Basque country, next to France. My mum was born in this city, and nowadays all my family lives there.

I spend my summers in San Sebastian since I was little. I used to spend both July and August but while I’ve been getting older we spent less time until this last summer, that I’ve been there for two weeks. San Sebastian is a beautiful city, it’s very small but that’s one of the better things of the city, so you can go by foot everywhere. There’s many tourists visiting the city every summer, almost all come from France. In this two weeks that I was there, I really enjoyed being with all my family because I only see them in Winter and in Summer. I have a cousin that has my age who’s name is Cecilia. I was very lucky to have his company, because in the evenings you sometimes get bored. I spent a lot of great moments there, with my family.

Camp Rialp

This summer I went to a summer camp. At first I was a bit afraid of going because I didn’t know anyone. When I arrived I was so nervous, people looked at me weird, the english exam that I had just done had gone horrible, every thing was going wrong! That day I met my roommates (two girls), they were very friendly, and funny. They lived in Barcelona and they were my age so we got along very well. The next day the teachers told us who was our English teacher for the mornings and which was our level. They also told us in which group we where for the adventure activities in the afternoon. Some people didn’t do the adventure activities, they could choose some other activities to do, like: motorbikes, football, basket or golf. Days passed very Fast, I was having a wonderfull time! When I remember all the things that a did there I fell very sad because now I am here and I just can’t go back in time and start again. I will always remember this camp!

Let's meet!

At the end of this summer, I met all my classmates on different occasions. We usually chated through Tuenti and agreed on a plan. First we wanted to go to the water park of Cullera “Aquopolis” but it was very expensive so my friend Mar posted a photo of La Malvarrosa and suggested going to the beach. It was a wonderful idea but that day the weather was bad rainy and cold so we decided to go to the cinema. We met at the Lys cinemas in the city centre but we walked aroud the streets because it was difficult to agree on a film. Later we went to La Cañada by train and we stayed at the “plaza” because it was the town festivals. Another day we, well just the girls, went to Kinepolis to see “Destino final 5”, we ate popcorn and candy and we had fun. This Sunday 11 we met all together to go to the beach, because in the previous occasion we cancelled the beach because of the rain.We ate there, and then we went to the house of Alejandro to have a swim in the swimming pool. We enjoyed a lot, I really enjoy going out with all my classmates!

The Holidays

This is one of my favourite films. I have seen it many times but I don’t get tired of watching it because I love it. It is the story of two girls. One lives in L.A and the other one lives in England. They live alone and they decide to exchange their houses for the holidays. The English girl flies to L.A and find a modern flat with all modern equipment and she is delighted. The American girl finds a typical English cottage and she is also very happy. They meet the other girl’s family and friends and they find love. So in the end they agree to spend New Year’s Eve together in England with their new boyfriends and a new life!

JMJ

From the 16 to the 21 of August Madrid celebrated an international meeting of the catholic youth with the Pope Benedict XVI.

The news reported that there were 6 million people in Madrid those days and it was difficult to feed everyone. The temperatures were high and the firemen tried to keep the people cool by watering them with a hose.

The Pope celebrated a mass at the Cibeles Square that could be followed on TV.

But there was a demonstration against the Pope’s visit and the police had to stop it by using the force because there were fights between the two sides.

Summer festivals

Spain is a wonderful place for summer music festivals, the weather is good and there are plenty of beaches to enjoy a summer day in the sun. So there are many music festivals going on in different places. My brother Javier who turned 21 in August, went to Burriana Arenal Sound festival with his friends. They went camping for 10 days! He said they had a very good time, but it was very hot during the day and it was difficult to sleep in a tent.

I also went to Benicassim where my parents have got a flat. Benicassim is a paradise for “guiris”. There is the famous FIB in July and in August they organise a new festival of reggae music called Rototom, there were many young people hanging aroung with the typical rastafari look. It was very funny!

Jane Eyre

Jane Eyre is the story of a young girl who’s parents died and who lived first with her aunt Mr Reed, and then in a boarding school but she was very unhappy. At 18 she found a job as a teacher in Thornfield Hall. She has to teach English to a little girl called Adele, who is the daughter of Mr Rochester. Mr Rochester is a mysterious man that lives apparently alone. One night Jane heard a terrible laugh, she smelt smoke, she went out and she found out that Mr Rochester’s bed was on fire, she put it out with some water but she was afraid. Mr Rochester and Jane fell in love and wanted to marry. But two days before the wedding, a terrible frightening woman came into her room and tore her wedding dress. On the wedding day a man came into the church and said they had to stop the wedding, because Mr Rochester was married to his sister. So Jane left and went to live with her cousins. She inherited a lot of money and became a rich woman. One of his cousins St John asked Jane if she wanted to marry him, and go to India. Jane didn’t want to marry him because she was still in love with Mr Rochester. So she decided to go and look for him. She went back to Thornfield Hall and found it had burned down. The mad woman was dead and Mr Rochester was blind and had lost one hand but he was still alive. They got married and lived happily ever after!
